This is a continuation of  my post from yesterday. Read that one first if you want to know how the first half of 2010 played out for me and my family. There are also links to 2009′s year in pictures. Go ahead and check them out. I’ll wait right here.

Are you back? Okay! Without further ado here is Part 2 of 2010, My Year in Pictures!

July 2010

In July I made some Baked Ranch Chicken and shared the recipe for you guys. (The first and only recipe ever on this blog!)  I took time out from the hustle and bustle of being a housewife to just be mommy. I received a couple of very lovely anniversary presents from my husband to celebrate five years of marriage, and I also reminisced about our unconventional wedding. I moved Barely Jessica to it’s own domain and switched my blogging platform to WordPress. I also reviewed some awesome pens. Insomnia plagued me and I took Alyssa to get her first manicure!  Overall, July was a nice month!

August 2010

In August, we said goodbye to Hawaii and also goodbye to Nibbler. I only posted twice in August thanks to being so busy with the move back to the mainland! It was a bittersweet month.

We spent the rest of the month in California and had a fantastic time. You can see pictures from our San Diego Zoo trip here, and pictures from our trip to Oceanside here.

September 2010

September was a black hole of a month, just like it was in 2009. I only posted once. Here. I barely have any pictures from that month as well. Just a few of Amber. And WordPress won’t even let me upload those.

October 2010

In October, after a month of being in Louisiana, we finally got our own place.  We also carved our first pumpkin. And welcomed a few new furry friends into our home.

November 2010

In November, my life was pretty much consumed by NaNoWriMo. ( And I won!!!!) You can read the first 11 chapters of my NaNoWriMo novel here. We also celebrated the 3rd Birthday of my sweet Amber.

December 2010

In December, after four months with no mode of transportation we were finally able to buy a car. We spent some quality time with Chuck Norris and Mr. T. I reviewed some more awesome pens. We went to Natchitoches to see the Festival of Lights while my father in law was in town visiting and I contemplated going back into the Army Reserves. And though I have yet to blog about it, I got a job (the first in 5 years, other than the Reserves!) as a security guard of all things! A nice way to end the year I think. 2010 has definitely had it’s ups and downs and I am more than ready to see what 2011 has in store for us.

And that, my friends, was my 2010. I hope you enjoyed the second part of this post and I hope everyone has a very happy new year! (I will be working, but I am definitely NOT complaining!!!) Have a great one! See you in 2011!

Last year I did a review of my year in pictures. I decided that I would do the same thing this year. If you are interested in last year’s posts, you can read part 1 here and part 2 here. Here is a bit of a forewarning for you guys: This post (and the next one) will be both link and picture heavy. All links will open in new windows. I hope you enjoy this post as I am sure a lot of time and effort will go into it.

January 2010

2010 did not start out well for us at all. So in an effort to cheer ourselves up we went looking for a new furry friend. Which we were denied. For having children. Twice. By the same crazy lady. You can read all about our kitten debacle here. In the midst of self sorrow, I returned to a favorite book from the teenage years and read and reviewed it for you guys. The Silver Kiss is enough to snap anyone out of a bout of self pity. In haiku style, inspired by a prompt from Jenn over at You Know… That Blog?, I remembered the first time I ever saw a dead body.  As you guys can tell January 2010 was not a very happy month for me. Actually 2010 as a whole has not been a happy year for me. But I still want to reflect on it so that I can be truly thankful for the new year! Here are a few pictures from January 2010:

February 2010

February crept up on us as evidenced in this post. And then we almost died when our car ran out of gas in the middle of the road. But then Chris and I got to spend Valentine’s Day alone together so that made up for the near death experience. I made this wish which unexpectedly came true just seven short months later. Seriously guys, be careful what you wish for! We ended February with a fantasitc weekend!

March 2010

In March, I had a ridiculous conversation with a Twitter Troll and also had to say goodbye to my sweet rattie girl Bella. I also had some internet drama with a complete stranger on Facebook that caused me to shut down Jessica’s Mental Vomit for the rest of the month.

April 2010

In April, I came back to blogging at a new blog called Barely Jessica.  There isn’t a whole lot to post about in April because a suicide attempt landed me in the hospital.

I had to add this pic because of all the pictures of my BB in my 2009 posts. When I upgraded to the 9700.

May 2010

In May I got my nose pierced and took Alyssa to a craft fair where she rode a pony for the first time! I was also inspired to write this post about my own personal Emergency Room Psychic.  I also learned the difference between Functioning and Surviving.  I brainstormed writing down my life story in book form. And I spent some time at my favorite writing spot.

June 2010

We kicked off June with a road trip to Kaneohe Marine Corps Base. We also brought home a new pet. My poor Amber got sick. For father’s day I posted these haiku about my daddy! We also went to the Hawaii state fair which for some reason I did not blog about. And that was pretty much it for June.

This is the only decent picture I have for June because my camera went to crap on me.

And that is all for the first half of 2010. I really hope you guys enjoy these posts as it takes me over 2 hours to put them together! Come back tomorrow for part 2!!

I found this book-related meme via Today, I Read… which is a book blog that I started following recently. One of my resolutions is to read more books in 2011 so I am on the hunt for some book bloggers and possibly a book club. We’ll see. This meme is called Teaser Tuesdays and is hosted by Miz B on her blog Should Be Reading.

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

“I wanted to explore, test myself and my power. More than anything, now more than ever, I wanted to be myself even if it meant playing with fire.”

– pg. 110 Daughter of Darkness by V.C. Andrews

Well, that’s my teaser for this week. I should be reviewing this book this Sunday (expect that to become the norm for this blog, book reviews every Sunday.) I hope you enjoyed it and let me know if you end up reading it. Are you currently reading something interesting that would you like to share? Then follow the above instructions, post your teaser and head over to Should Be Reading and leave a comment letting Miz B know that you are participating in Teaser Tuesdays! Have a fantastic day!

One Christmas down. Two to go.

We are celebrating Christmas in three different places this year. First. we had a humble little celebration here in our tiny apartment. Next we are heading over to my parents house to spend part of Christmas with them. (The first Christmas I have been home for in three years!) And after that we are headed to my Nana’s house to spend the rest of Christmas with her and the rest of my family. (The first Christmas I have spent with her in thirteen years! Thanks to massive family drama.) I have been stressing about today for a long time because my mom doesn’t know that I am back in contact with my Nana and when she does find out, I am not sure how she will take it. But you know what, I don’t care. I am an adult now and I should be able to speak to whomever I want without fearing what certain people will think about it. (It’s a very complicated situation that I will maybe blog about at a later time.) Anyways. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas or whatever it is that you celebrate. Enjoy your day!
